Protesters in Fresno, California, waved the Confederate flag and signs that read “White Lives Matter” to express outrage over a local White man’s police-involved shooting death, the New York Daily News reports.

Several shouted “f**k the police” and threw water bottles and glass toward a line of policeman gathered near the crime scene. The group spilled over from an earlier vigil for the victim on Sunday evening.

The Daily News reports that family and friends identified the shooting victim as Dylan Noble.

Fresno police shot Noble, a 19-year-old resident, on Saturday after they claim he refused to show his hands during a police encounter, according to the Daily News. He died on Sunday from complications during surgery.

KSEE-TV says authorities were initially called to the area to find a gun-toting man walking about the neighborhood. On the way, they passed Noble, who was allegedly speeding in his truck. The officers pursued Noble who eventually pulled over at a Chevron gas station.

Deputy Chief Pat Farmer, told KSEE-TV, “The subject was told to show his hands. The solo occupant of the pickup truck would show the officers one hand at a time and kept one hand hidden during the contact.”

Farmer told reporters that Noble got out of the truck and made bizarre movements. After he allegedly said “he hated his life,” he reached behind him to grab what officers thought was a weapon. The two responding officers shot him several times. No weapon was found at the scene.

KSEE-TV reports the two officers involved are on administrative leave. This is the seventh police-involved shooting in Fresno this year.
