Hillary Clinton Clinches Democratic Presidential Nomination:
Hillary Clinton clinched the Democratic presidential nomination Monday, according to CNN’s delegate and superdelegate count, and will become the first woman in the 240-year history of the United States to lead the presidential ticket of a major political party.
A strong showing in Puerto Rico’s Democratic primary on Sunday and additional support from superdelegates put Clinton, 68, over the top to become the presumptive nominee. She has secured 1,812 pledged delegates and 572 superdelegates for a total of 2,384 delegates — one more than needed for the nomination.
Clinton’s delegate count will grow Tuesday when six states, including delegate-rich California and New Jersey, hold contests. Speaking in Long Beach, California, on Monday, Clinton said she was still focused on the states where voters head to the polls Tuesday.
Tropical Storm Colin Hits Florida:
Tropical Storm Colin has made landfall in Florida, dousing much of the state with heavy rains, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The state is bracing for flooding, with Florida Gov. Rick Scott declaring a state of emergency early Monday. Rains have also pounded southern Georgia and South Carolina.
“This is a very quick-moving storm system, and a lot of the energy and a lot of the damage associated with it is going to be displaced off to the east,” CNN Meteorologist Pedram Javaheri said. “By this time tomorrow night — certainly into Wednesday — we’re talking about a storm system that is long-gone.
Kimbo Slice, Popular MMA Fighter And Internet Sensation, Dies:
Mixed martial arts fighter Kimbo Slice died Monday, according to the MMA organization that represented him.
He was 42 years old.
“One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport. Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man,” said Bellator MMA President Scott Coker. “His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.”

Gorilla Killing: 3-Year-Old Boy’s Mother Won’t Be Charged:
he mother of the 3-year-old boy who fell into a gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo will not face charges, an Ohio prosecutor said Monday.
“By all accounts, this mother did not act in any way where she presented this child to some harm,” Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters said.
“She had three other kids with her and turned her back. … And if anyone doesn’t believe a 3-year-old can scamper off very quickly, they’ve never had kids.”
