The big outrage over Missouri Senate Candidate Todd Akin‘s interview, on the “Jaco Report“, was over his comments about rape and abortion. However, there were some comments, the Senate Candidate made in the interview, that didn’t get much attention from the media at all.

Reverend Al Sharpton dug deep into this story, on the TJMS, and pointed out Akin’s responses on voter ID and civil rights laws. He said this morning,

“What I think we’re missing, from that very same interview, is that he said we need to return to states rights on voting and civil rights laws. It’s interesting nobody’s outraged about this, and no one’s challenging his comment. Many of us need to understand that if we have a states rights model in this country, then we will be driven by the tyranny of the majority. If it wasn’t for a centralized federal government, we would never have won voting rights, civil rights, or even the emancipation proclamation.”

If you want to hear Akin’s comment on voting and civil rights, go to 4:36 on the video, and you can hear his explanation on why voting and civil rights should return to the state’s level.
